Embossing on diaries

Embossing is an elegant solution for branding not only diaries, but also printed materials or small promotional items made of leather. Using a stamping die and high pressure, the logo or motif is embossed into the item. The result is visually attractive and tactilely noticeable. Embossing itself is divided into two subgroups - embossing and foil stamping. When using embossing, the resulting motifs are slightly darker in color than the surrounding material. Motifs using foliorage are filled with colored foil - most often silver or gold. This technology is also used for textiles, most often on towels, where the graphics are embossed at higher temperatures directly into the fibres of the towel. The embossing is colorless, but causes a slight darkening of the embossed graphic.

Production
The production starts with the preparation of the die. The graphic material is transferred onto the magnesium prism using light and a light-sensitive layer - similar to screen printing. The rest of the material is etched away until only the raised motif remains on the plate. The embossing dies are then fixed in the machine and the embossing can begin. During debossing, the motif from the plate is only pressed into the material, leaving behind a slightly darker depression. In foil stamping, a foil is still inserted between the stamp and the promotional item to color the stamped motif.
